Sportfishing in San Diego
Hi, I’m Captain Ron from Marisol Sportfishing; I’ve been sportfishing in San Diego since 1991. I still remember my first trip ever. A good friend of mine was an avid fisherman. I had no clue. I couldn’t even tie a knot. Somehow on October 30th, he talked me into a 1 ½ trip on the Apollo out of Fisherman’s Landing. There was only 14 people on the boat and it was rough and whitecaps. I had my ski jacket, a pair of Vans and a hat. I didn’t know how cold it was going to be. I remember I borrowed my friend Senator 113 which he called a knuckle breaker. I soon figured out what that meant. We had 4 stops on that trip. Each one was for a few hours at a
time on wide open yellowfin and big eye tuna all between 30 to 60 lbs. That was it. I’m hooked! Fast forward, 6 boats later and I am a captain of a 6 pack deep sea fishing San Diego.
Being on the water my entire life I just love the ocean. Whether I am surfing Seaside with my 11 year old daughter, taking a trip to Tavarua or rockfishing on the 9 mile bank with my buddies, I am happy just to be out there. I have over 30 years of fishing experience however I am always learning something new. Listening to others and what they see and do always inspires me to do better. In my spare time I spend time with my family and friends. I was an avid motocross rider until I realized I fell way too many times. The water is much softer to fall on.:) Sushi and Italian food are my favorites. There are a lot of deep sea fishing San Diego charters to choose from.
